Reflecting on our Walk with Harriet at Horn Point Event

This past Saturday, July 9th, the Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center hosted a truly memorable event at Horn Point, and we couldn't be more grateful for the wonderful turnout and support we received. Despite the heat, it was a day filled with joy, learning, and beautiful music!

While ninety people registered for the event, we were thrilled to welcome thirty-nine dedicated participants who braved the heat to join us.

We kicked off the day with a walk and engaging discussions about Harriet Tubman's incredible legacy. The conversations were enlightening, and it was inspiring to see so many people come together to honor her story.

Although we had to move the concert indoors due to the intense heat, it didn't dampen the spirits or the quality of the performance. The concert was nothing short of delightful!

A huge thank you to Dr. Judy for her unwavering support and to the scientists who shared their valuable insights about Horn Point. Your contributions made the event even more special.

We were also graced with the enchanting voice of Donna Thiel, accompanied by David Jernigan's deep, rich sounds on the upright bass and Don Witter's smooth brushwork on the drums. A special thank you to David B Cole for his dazzling rendition of "It’s A Wonderful World" and his mastery of the guitar strings. The music truly touched our hearts and created an unforgettable atmosphere.

A big shoutout to Mrs. Martins Cookies for setting up the food truck at the pavilion, ensuring that everyone had delicious treats to enjoy throughout the event. Your support was invaluable and added a sweet touch to the day.

We also want to extend our deepest thanks to all those who traveled from Salisbury, Baltimore, DC, Silver Spring, Easton, Bowie, Delaware, and Virginia to spend the day with us. Your presence and enthusiasm made all the difference, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.

Our hearts are full as we reflect on this wonderful day. Thank you to everyone who h,l.llelped make it a success. Let's continue to walk with Harriet, find the Harriet within ourselves, and celebrate her legacy together.

With gratitude,

The Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center
